Joe Webb

Q1. Which event are you training for?
I have a few things going on this year but the one getting me most out of my comfort zone is organising a juniors ride from Beckenham to Hampton Court.

Q2. How are the preparations and training going?
The organising is going well, I have ridden the whole route a few times and used my kids as guinea pigs to test the first part of the route.

Q3. What is motivating you to do the event?
I really struggle to collect sponsorship money now, the only way i can usually raise money is if i change jobs and can tap into a new circle of contacts. I figured out that if i organise an event for other people to take part in, they can do the collecting, I just give them the chance to.

Q4. How did it come about that you’re doing this event?
All thanks to Big Kev and his team.  Big Kev’s rides introduce so many people to O2e. I will be in Donegal in September but I won’t raise a load of money which is a shame as everyone should do their part for the charities. Organising the event to Hampton court is my way of raising money this year.

Q5. What is going to be the toughest part of doing this event for you?
Trying to sleep the night before.

Q6. Confident for the big day(s)?
As confident as i can be. the route is great, fingers crossed for the weather.

Q7. How have family and friends reacted to your doing this event?
They have been great as always.

Q8. How much do you hope to raise?
I hope the event will raise £1,000

Q9. How would you like the donations from your efforts to make a difference?
Any help we can give to the children and their families is a great thing. I like the fact that most of the charities O2e support are small and local.

Q10. Do you have any fundraising ideas?
Ask people to fill a smarties tube with 20p pieces and return it when full. People don’t realise a tube holds £11.80

Q11. What is it about O2e that resonates with you?
“Out of your comfort zone” it doesn’t matter what the event is, it is a personal challenge for you!

Q12. What type of event would really get you out of your comfort zone?
Running. The bicycle was invented so you don’t have to run.

Q13. Do you have any suggestions of how we could evolve O2e and what would you like to see more of?
I would like to see more social events / rides. O2e just meeting up for a ride or a pint now and again.

Q14. Finally, what advice do you have for any would-be O2eer?
JUST DO IT!    By the time you have thought about it, you could have done it!
