Pete Lavington, Charles Lavington, Alan Kennedy and Gaby Stevenson are heading to the Alps to take on four legendary climbs in one day in the Marmotte Granfondo Alpes.
Cycling 174km in a day, they will drag themselves up;
- Alpe d’Huez
This event is on the bucket list of most, if not all, cyclists. A team of O2ers did a similar challenge a few years ago and it was the toughest day on a bike ever for all involved.
Not only are there insane gradients to grind up, there are rapid descents (21 hairpins on Alp d’Huez alone!) where lots of skill is needed to take the correct line and stay on the bike.
The lads will conquer 5,000 metres of climbing which makes for one very long day in the saddle.
