April Update

The highlights keep coming and Newsletter 8 is packed…

‘Magic darts’

Bianca, Granty, Wolfie and The Menace

Granty’s darts night was yet another massive O2e event from which there will be many still recovering.  Great to see so many familiar faces and lots of newbies.

Lots more to highlight…  One of our big targets this year is to break through the £2.5m donated by O2e since it was set up.  And I am pleased to report we are well on the way to this target with a bank balance of some £40k, which is substantially more than at the same time last year.

Well done to all!

Fantastic effort Al!

Six Nations Update

Six Nations sweep first prize was shared between Catherine “I know nothing about rugby” Constance and Nick “I don’t do smug” John.

Delighted to report that both winners graciously donated their winnings to O2e and this, together with some further donations, resulted in £100 for O2e.  Ding dong.

Thanks to all who took part and to Nick and Catherine for their generosity.

Jackie Slattery and pals

Jackie, Maria and Angela will be walking from Winchester to Brighton this coming weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, a total of 68 miles and requiring daily walks of approximately 23 miles.

No mean feat in them there hilly hills!

Last I heard their training walks were up to 17.5 miles so let’s hope the last 5 miles each day are downhill!

Best of luck ladies and I hope the weather is kind to you.

Team AJ – 150 mile ride training update

Ryan and Adam, both employees at AJ Supplies, have joined forces to train for their attempt to complete a 150 mile bike ride over 2 days in very undulating terrain between Source offices in Dorset and Surrey.

This will be their first such long distance bike rides but training is going well and they are quietly confident of being in good shape to achieve this target. Their event is in September so still plenty more time to get themselves up those hills.

Give it up for Ryan and Adam, best of luck chaps.

Brian De’ath and Gareth Morgan walk to work

Ecowarriors Brain (aka Beaker) and Gareth, two of the Hadham Hooters and a right pair of nutters, avoided the congestion charge in a novel way last week with a 36 mile walk from their homes in Little Hadham (near Bishop Stortford) to their work places in Canary Wharf.

Setting off at 12 midnight, it took them 65,000 steps and 9.5 hours – a remarkable feet (see what I did there) and even more remarkable is that between them they have raised almost £1,800 for O2e!

Click here and let’s try and get the lads to £2k.

Sue Smiths’ London Park Walks for O2e

Already a popular event, Sue is looking for a further 5 walkers to beat last years’ total.

So ask around, check your colleagues at work, give a gentle nudge to family and friends, it will be a super day walking in Central London alongside the Thames.

London is such a wonderful city on a glorious sunny, spring day.

The date is 26th May, there are two distances (16 and 26 miles), it is relatively flat and there are plenty of places along the routes for rest and recuperation.

You know it makes sense.

Keep up the great work.
